International Outreach

Ascension wants to participate with the rest of the global church in making Jesus known to all nations. We do that in a few ways.

First, Ascension’s mission budget supports several global mission endeavors, both individual missionaries as well as several mission organizations.

Second, and closer to home, Ascension reaches out to our international neighbors through a well-developed international ministry. We offer ESL classes, conversation partners, seasonal gatherings, fun field trips, and Bible studies for those who wish to participate. Over 600 students from at least 40 countries have come to Ascension’s English classes at some point since we began a formal ministry for Internationals in 2016. There are all kinds of ways to serve: teach or assist with classes; become a conversation partner; drive on field trips; host an international for a holiday meal.

Third and most recently, we have launched a refugee/low-income immigrant pilot program to minister among the poorest of our international neighbors. This ministry is in early formation and its Director, Daniel Behrens, is looking for interested volunteers to become part of his team. Please reach out to him!

Fourth and finally, Ascension recently started a legal clinic on Wednesday evenings especially for those with immigration issues. Jennifer Tinker, an immigration lawyer, leads this initiative. She would love to train additional lawyers and administrative volunteers.
