Jonathan grew up in England and studied at University in Birmingham where he obtained a degree in Managerial and Administrative studies.
He went on to study for the Bar in London and practiced as a barrister (trial lawyer) for five years in Manchester. Jonathan studied Theology at the University of Oxford and, after completing his seminary training at Wycliffe Hall, was ordained in 1992.
After serving as an assistant in Buckinghamshire for two years, Jonathan served as the rector of Trinity, Washington, PA for almost six years. He went back to England as the Rector of Church Stretton in Shropshire for three and a half years, before becoming rector of Church of the Ascension in January 2004. Jonathan also serves our diocese as Canon for Clergy Health and is involved in a number of leadership initiatives nationally as well as being a mediator for the Anglican Church in North America.
Raised in a Christian family, Jonathan cannot remember a time when he did not know God. Through the joys and sorrows of life and ministry, Jonathan is surer today than ever of God’s grace, love and power to do abundantly far more than we can ask or imagine. Jonathan is passionate about people, preaching and seeing lives transformed by God.
Jonathan is married to Andrea, who is also an ordained Anglican Priest and Canon of the Church. When not engaged in parish or wider church business, Jonathan loves to spend time with Andrea and, when possible, with his adult children, Jack, Juliet, and Jane. Jonathan enjoys walking, reading, travel, and photography.
