And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. – Philippians 1:6
We welcome those aged 18 – 30 into our church family. We want to walk alongside you in what may be years of transition through institutions of higher education and into the professional world. We have two staff members who help oversee this ministry, Alex Banfield Hicks, Director of Youth and Emerging Adult Ministry, as well as Leah Hornfeck, Associate Director of Youth and Emerging Adult Ministry, precisely because the years between 18 and 30 are ones of transition, change and growth. Both Alex and Leah are eager to connect and we are eager for you to find a home with us! Our co-Associate Rectors, Jonathan Warren and Tish Warren, also love being with 20- and 30-somethings and are always up for a coffee. Please reach out – either to one of the staff mentioned or via our Contact Page! We have a growing community of young adults at Ascension – we hope you find a home with us.
Community Groups and Ministry Teams
We hope young adults who come to our church find themselves at home. Community Groups are the best way for that to happen! Currently we have 3 young adult Community Groups that meet on different weekdays. Another way is by serving with one of our Ministry Teams. We encourage you to participate fully in our parish life!
Dinner and Compline
Once a month all young adults come together for dinner and conclude the evening with a Service of Compline. It’s a fun hang out and a nice way to end the day. Keep tuned to ‘weekly news’ on our website.
If you are a college student at Pitt, we’d love for you to join us on campus! Ascension has a group at Pitt called Ascension Campus Fellowship (ACF). We hope to establish a similar group at CMU soon. ACF is a great way to connect with other students, grow in your faith, and discover what it means to be a Christian in college, as well as in your future vocation. Leah would love to chat with you about ACF, college life, or anything else you’d like to talk about! She would also love to get you connected within the church, with community groups and ministry teams. To find out more about ACF, join us on Facebook: Ascension Campus Fellowship (PITT).
During term time, join us Sundays between services for conversation, coffee and food. This is a fun meet up time! We typically meet in the Old Catacombs (basement of the Parish Hall) around 10:30am. For more information, contact Leah.
