    Welcome!

We are a community of Anglican believers who worship together, seek to grow as disciples of Jesus, and give back to God in gratitude for all He has done. Please join us on a Sunday and find out more!

We are privileged to come alongside engaged couples as they plan for Christian marriage. Those desiring to be married at Church of the Ascension should contact a member of the clergy. After an initial meeting with a priest, the engaged couple should contact the Director of Community Life, Marilyn Chislaghi, to book a date for the wedding and receive additional written guidelines for wedding preparation.  The process and fees required for wedding ceremonies will be explained at that time. Not until both meetings take place is the reservation made on Ascension’s church calendar.

Marriage preparation at Church of the Ascension is comprehensive. Our goal is to provide a wonderful foundation for a successful, God-centered marriage. In addition to the initial meetings with clergy and the Director of Community Life, the engaged couple is required to:

    1. Meet with the officiating priest two or three additional times to discuss the nature of Christian Marriage as well as the specifics of the wedding service.
    2. Complete a course of pre-marital counseling as approved by Ascension’s rector. Often these counseling sessions are conducted by an experienced lay couple in the parish and may even take place with other couples preparing for marriage.
    3. Meet with a ‘mentor couple’ at least 2 times prior to the wedding, as well as at least 1 time following the wedding.
    4. Plan specifics of the wedding, meeting with various personnel as needed (pastoral musician for music; church secretary for bulletin details, etc)
