Judy’s family moved to the Pittsburgh area in 1994 and visited Ascension upon recommendation of a friend. What attracted her family to Ascension was its emphasis on scriptural teaching, the prayer ministry, the diverse music ministry and rich liturgical worship.
She became the receptionist/secretary in the spring of 1999 when Doug McGlynn was rector. She is also the resident graphic artist and publisher of The Ascent, Ascension’s monthly church newsletter. She maintains Ascension’s Parish Photo Directory (we use Instant Church Directory), an online directory that is password accessible. (Contact her and to get the scoop on how it works!)
This past year, Judy’s duties expanded to include heading the Hospitality Ministry. This support ministry helps to facilitate the needs of various church functions including fellowship hour, snacks at our Parish Retreat, Parish Picnic, summer barbeques on the lawn, Ascension Day, Annual Meeting, and the Marriage Course.
Judy is involved in various activities outside of her work at church, including chalice bearing and ushering. She and her husband, Ron, are members of the Ben Avon Heights small group fellowship and also a married couples fellowship with the purpose of strengthening/building marital relationships. She and Ron have both worked with the youth ministry and been active with the Cursillo/A4D movement. More recently, they have participated in a similar outreach to Prison inmates (Kairos) and their families (Kairos Outside).
Judy and Ron have three grown children and three grandchildren.
