Parish Retreat registration is officially open! The retreat is always the first weekend of October, so this year it will take place Friday, October 5 through Sunday, October 7. Our theme is “Lord, Teach us to Pray…Exploring Rhythms and Practices of Prayer for Everyday Life.” Our teachers will include Jonathan and Andrea Millard, as well as Jonathan and Tish Warren. Included in programming are various prayer workshops to put practical feet onto the teaching about prayer!

Never been to an Ascension Parish Retreat?
In addition to great teaching, the weekend offers an opportunity to enjoy Western PA in the fall and the chance to get to know others who regularly attend Ascension. The retreat has something for everyone – married or unmarried, from kids to college-aged to empty-nesters. Campfires, S’mores and hot chocolate will also be part of the mix. Corporate worship and prayer ministry are highlights for many. The weekend concludes with Sunday morning worship followed by lunch.
Where is it?
Laurelville Mennonite Church Center is a 600-acre retreat center located about 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, at the foot of the Laurel mountains. Ascension has gone to ‘Laurelville’ for over 30 years – indeed ‘Laurelville’ is for many the short-handed way to refer to the Parish Retreat!
New this year
We have introduced a new pricing structure this year in efforts to keep the retreat affordable. Meal plans for teens are reduced in cost, room rates have also been kept in check, and we have introduced a family max. Check it out! As always, scholarships are available!
