Jonathan was born in 1958 and raised a Presbyterian in Newport News, Virginia, a
shipbuilding town near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. He was received into
the Episcopal Church in 1987, and he and his wife have worshiped in this
denomination as they moved together from New Hampshire to Minnesota to
Texas and finally, in 1995, here to Pittsburgh.  They have 2 children, a son
born in 1992 and a daughter born in 1997.

For most of his years at Ascension, he has served as the congregation's
representative to East End Cooperative Ministry. He was on EECM's Executive
Committee and Board of Directors for about 4 years, serving as secretary to
the corporation for most of that time. He remains on the EECM Council of
Congregations, which is the liason between the Board and the member
congregations, andhe serves as secretary there. Many of his other activities
at Ascension have something to do with ministry to those in our local area.

Jonathan's day job is computer programming. For the last 4 years he has been on the
research staff at CMU's Human-Computer Interaction Institute. Prior to that
he worked on UPMC's clinical information data base system, and prior to that,
for Carnegie Group, a custom software company specializing in artificial
intelligence applications.
