What would you say if we told you that everything you have is a gift?  Would you say we’re crazy?  Would you say we’re out of touch with reality?  Would that be insulting to you and your hard work?

We believe that every single thing we have is a gift from God.  It could be a good job, a sharp mind, good looks, people skills or musical talent.  We may work hard to cultivate those things but God gave us the ingredients to work with – good health, a sharp mind to learn with and the skills, training and opportunities necessary to land a good job.

In Deuteronomy 8, Moses destroys the notion that we are a self-made man or woman.  In verses 17-18 he says, “Do not say to your self, ‘My power and the might of my own hand have gotten me this wealth.’ But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth.”  The more we realize everything is a gift, the healthier and happier we’ll be.  The irony is that those who give away their lives are the ones who really find life (Matthew 16:25).

Because we have been given so much we give back to God – both financially and with our lives, through our time and the talents he’s given us.
