    Welcome!

We are a community of Anglican believers who worship together, seek to grow as disciples of Jesus, and give back to God in gratitude for all He has done. Please join us on a Sunday and find out more!

Church of the Ascension supports several local organizations actively engaged in sharing Christ’s healing. We do so financially, through prayer and through practical initiatives throughout the year. We have deeply personal connections with these agencies since several of our parishioners have worked or continue to work with them. Some of the organizations we are delighted to minister alongside are described briefly below. We hope these brief descriptions give you a flavor for ministry we value at Church of the Ascension. Click on the name of the ministry to visit their websites! If you would like to investigate local ministry further, please contact Conn Thieman, Chair of the Ascension Missions Committee.

    .

Shepherd’s Heart Fellowship – This Anglican Fellowship delivers tangible aid and shelter to the poor and homeless in Pittsburgh’s uptown neighborhood. Volunteers from Ascension provide a meal on a Sunday evening for the Shepherd Heart community about once a quarter.

East End Cooperative Ministries – EECM is dedicated to helping vulnerable adults and at-risk children and youth throughout Pittsburgh’s East End neighborhoods. We provide a meal at the EECM men’s shelter once a month. During the Christmas season, we support the EECM Giving Tree.

    .

East Liberty Family Health Care Center –The mission of the East Liberty Family Health Care Center is to witness to God’s love, known in Jesus Christ, by offering quality, whole-person health care to all, especially the poor. ELFHCC is supported through Ascension’s mission budget. The founding member of ELFHCC as well as several support staff attend Church of the Ascension. Many members and friends of Ascension have private affiliation with ELFHCC.

    .

Women’s Choice Network – Formerly known as the Pregnancy Care Center, the mission of the Network is to empower abortion-vulnerable women to choose life. Each May, our children engage in a ‘baby bottle campaign’ to raise funds for the Network.

    .

Coalition for Christian Outreach – The mission of CCO is “Transforming College Students to Transform the World.” Ascension’s Campus Minister is affiliated with the CCO. Ascension supports several CCO workers with its mission budget and many Ascension members attend CCO sponsored events.

    .

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship – InterVarsity is an evangelical campus mission serving students and faculty on college and university campuses nationwide. The vision of InterVarsity is to see students and faculty transformed, campuses renewed, and world changers developed.

Support Groups meeting at Ascension – There are many support groups that meet at Ascension during the week, including Alcoholics Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous and Workaholics Anonymous. For more information on any of these groups, please contact the Director of Community Life, Marilyn Chislaghi, and she will connect you.
