On staff at Ascension is our Director of Hospitality, Denise Pierchalski. Denise heads up many of our community events by organizing a kitchen crew, folks who are known to us as "Feast Makers".

Each Sunday the kitchen crew gets busy bright and early, preparing a wonderful cooked breakfast, served buffet style, for all who wish to come. It's a great deal, at just $3 per person. Coffee hour is also held weekly after our later service is finished.

Our goal at Ascension is to have events throughout the calendar year to celebrate together and mark special seasons. In Lent our custom is to come together on Wednesday evenings for a special Lenten Dinner Series. We crowd out the parish hall and enjoy a potluck meal over the course of several Wednesday nights. Each May we have an annual Ascension Day Feast to celebrate our name day. The Bishop visits and we usually have baptisms or confirmations. In June we head out to a local park for our annual Parish Picnic. Once again, Denise and her crew grill up a feast while members of the parish contribute covered dishes. We also have a couple barbeques on the church lawn throughout the summer months, as well as a Strawberry Festival replete with a brass band. We kick off the new school year in September with another barbeque on the church lawns, welcoming students new to town to come and worship with us. Perhaps the climax of the year is our New Years Eve Eucharistic Feast, a wonderful meal during which communion is celebrated at the dinner table.

As part of its mission of sharing Christ's love and healing in a broken world, Ascension has a meal ministry named Soul Food.  Soul Food ministers to those who don't have enough to eat, as well as those who are celebrating the birth of a baby, recovering from surgery or illness, or mourning the loss of a loved one, in a practical and helpful way.

There are lots of events, and plenty of opportunity to be involved in hospitality ministries at Ascension. If you would like to join the Feast Maker crew, please give the church office a call.
