Overeaters Anonymous the 2nd floor Conference Room.
Madeline S. Those in OA are seeking recovery from compulsive overeating through shared experience, strength and hope. Everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively is welcome. There are no dues or fees for members; OA is self-supporting through member contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations. It is not affiliated with any public or private organization, political movement, ideology or religious doctrine; OA takes no position on outside issues. Its primary purpose is to help members abstain from compulsive overeating and to carry this message of recovery to those who still suffer. Within Overeaters Anonymous is H.O.W. which stands for Honesty, Open-mindedness and Willingness. Unlike OA in general, the H.O.W. arm of OA practices abstinence from compulsive overeating by following a specific plan of eating and a specific plan of spiritual recovery. H.O.W. meetings, including the one that meets here at Ascension, are open to all compulsive overeaters but have their own guidelines for defining abstinence and eligibility to share at a meeting. Further information concerning Overeaters Anonymous can be found at http://www.oa.org/index.htm. |
