On Sundays the children leave the service after the Children’s Talk, which is usually on one of the scripture lessons they will focus on in Sunday School. They are taught by members of the Church who use instructional techniques designed to compliment various learning styles, engaging the children “head, heart and hands.” The children rejoin the congregation at the Offertory. Sunday School classes meet regularly through the school year, with the exception of Christmas and Easter.

Sunday School is supplemented by a variety of other programs geared toward children: Ascension Children’s Choir, Oakland Girls’ Choir, Saltworks drama programs, Communion Preparation Classes each spring, Art Café for Kids and other arts programs offered throughout the year.

K through 5th graders
Head, Heart and Hands: We care for the children!

Children in K through 5th Grades participate in a biblically based curriculum that follows the lectionary. In following the lectionary, our hope is that parents and children will engage the same scriptures on Sunday to make follow-up discussions during the week possible.
