Church of the Ascension

Church of the Ascension is made up of all sorts of people, young and old, believing Christians and those “just looking.” We are not the perfect church, but we want to be a place and a people where you may come to belong, to believe and to behave as a follower of Jesus Christ.

Church of the Ascension, founded in 1889, is an evangelical parish that stresses scriptural preaching and teaching, the need for repentance and faith, and the continuing presence of the Holy Spirit.

  • Our weekend worship takes place on Sundays and includes two communion services, a community breakfast, and an adult education hour.

At 8 a.m. we have a communion service (Rite I Eucharist) followed by breakfast ($3.00) in our common area known as the "Parish Hall." During this time, many from our worshipping community gather in preparation for our Adult Education hour (9:15a.m - 10:15a.m.).

Then, at 10:30 a.m., we continue our worship with a communion service ) Rite II Eucharist that includes traditional hymnody, contemporary praise music, and a children’s talk.

After Church many stay for refreshments in the Parish Hall or on the lawn (weather permitting).

Children begin worship services with their parents and then, after the children's talk, they take part in age-specific "Sunday School" classes staffed by committed Church of the Ascension volunteers.

For both our 9:15 a.m. Adult Education hour, and our 10:30 a.m. service, we offer Childcare is offered for younger children (Infant – Kindergarten).
