Visit us

We welcome visitors! We hope you find us hospitable, that your worship is meaningful, and that you come again!

Regular Service Times: Join us at 9am or 11am

Each week one of our two services will be livestreamed on Ascension’s YouTube channel. For more information, or to download this week’s bulletin, see our News and Events page.

What to expect?

We are doing construction! Half of our facility is inaccessible through June 2024. We have some recommendations to make your visit as easy to navigate as possible.

When you join us for worship, please use the main red doors off of Ellsworth or the glass doors off of Neville.

If you are in a wheelchair or have difficulty navigating stairs, a makeshift ramp has been constructed on the lawn and will be available for the duration of construction. Once construction is complete, there will be multiple points of entry for the disabled. Thanks for your patience!

If you need a bathroom during construction they can be found in the education wing which is out the side door near the piano (main floor and basement).

Childcare is offered in rooms 101 and 102 of the education wing from 8:45am – 12:30pm. All of our childcare workers have mandated clearances as well as mandated diocesan training. Ushers can direct you to those rooms.

Sunday School runs concurrently with both services. Children aged 4 – 5th grade begin with their parents, leaving for class after the children’s talk, and returning in time for communion. Members of our children’s ministry team also have mandated clearances as well as mandated diocesan training. A security team pays special attention to the education wing when the children are in class.

The 9am and 11am services are much the same. The 9am service has a more casual vibe with music by a worship team. The 11am service has a more traditional feel with music by the same worship team, but also accompanied by organ and a choir.

Regarding what to wear, some people are casual in jeans and hoodies while others dress up in suits and dresses. All are welcome.

Regarding Holy Communion, our clergy still use the protocol we adopted during the pandemic. They will dip a wafer into the communion wine and place the wafer into the communicant’s cupped hands. Gluten free wafers are available.

Finally, we like to chat and enjoy coffee and snacks after the services. Please make the trek down to the New Catacombs (a fancy word for the basement of our education wing) and meet a few people! If you don’t know where it is, follow the kids as they charge out after the service!

Weekday Parking
Please use our parking lots located at Neville Street and Ellsworth Avenue. If you’ll be less than an hour, you can also park on the street.

Sunday Parking
There are several good options on Sundays:

Ascension parking lots – There are 2 parking lots that are available once construction ends – one on Ellsworth and one on Neville. During construction our grass has become a makeshift parking lot as well. If you use it, please try not to block anyone in.

Street Parking – no restrictions

Oakland Catholic School – We have permission to use this lot each Sunday. You must enter the Oakland Catholic parking lot from Craig Street, which is one block west of the church toward the University of Pittsburgh. The gate at the entrance to the lot will open automatically when your car approaches the line.

Clyde Street – Clyde intersects Ellsworth, almost directly across from our parking lot. Parking is available in the University Child Development Center. Clyde is one way and the access is from Fifth Avenue, one block south of the church toward Carnegie Mellon University

Central Catholic School – This lot is two blocks away from the church. The entrance is on Neville, just down the hill from Fifth Avenue.
